The symposium on ‘Life Long learning in Health’ is a joint effort of the Department of Educational Development and Research and the Department of International Health at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences of Maastricht University in honour of Dr. Jos Moust and Drs. UM Campus Brussels Kicks-off

On Friday, December 11, the lease for Avenue de l’Armée 10 was signed in the presence of Jo Ritzen (President of UM), and Fernand Jadoul and Tjeerd Wichers (members of the UM Brussels Advisory Board), making the UM Campus Brussels a reality. In the political heart of Europe, Maastricht University will offer a wide range of academic education on a wide variety of EU related topics, including European Decision Making, Integrity and Ethics in Public Administration, Anti- Money Laundering policy, European Public Health and Competition Policy.

UM Campus Brussels is only a ten minute walk from the European Commission. The campus will also serve as a working and meeting place for UM alumni and staff. The first activities will take place at the beginning of 2010.

Maastricht is an international university. Many of its programmes have a European focus, including European Studies, European Law School, European Public Health and European Public Affairs - themes that are relevant for the thousands of civil servants and consultants working in the Brussels area who are looking for mid-career education and training programmes. A growing number of Maastricht University alumni work in Brussels, and the UM Campus there will provide a place where they can meet, work and relax.

The first weeks of January will be used to furnish and prepare the building. Activities will begin at the end of January 2010, starting with a festive opening.
