"Health Literacy Europe" was launched during the European Health Forum Gastein in Austria October 2010. The network establishes a sustainable platform for advancing health literacy in Europe through knowledge exchange and networking at national, regional and international level.
The initiative is endorsed by member of the European Parliament Mrs. A. Parvanova from Bulgaria who empasized in her speech how important it is to gather different stakeholders for collaborative efforts to promote health literacy in Europe. "Health literacy is important in today's Europe" she said; and was passionate about how knowledge of simple actions create a health impact giving the example of learning children to wash their hands to reduce infections and stay healthy. "Health literacy will help future generations"!.
