Katarzyna M. Czabanowska MA, PhD, has a full time appointment as assistant professor at the Department of International Health, Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Received her MA in English Philology at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, then studied business and administration which led her interests to Public Health (PH) field where she acquired a PhD on the use of qualitative research methods in PH at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Jagiellonian University Medical College. Her scientific interests are in qualitative research inquiry, cultural aspects of health and disease but her most recent research is in the area of PH workforce development in Europe including such topics as: PH competencies, assessment and self-assessment methods, competence-based education, identification of skill gaps between the expectations of job market and taught curricula, Lifelong learning in European PH and migration of healthcare workforce. She developed specialised courses based on the integration of content and language approach for PH students and professionals. Katarzyna Czabanowska has international experience as a lecturer and leader of international research and educational projects. Previously worked as an assistant professor and head of International Affairs at the Institute of Public Health Jagiellonian University Medical College, she is an Honorary Research Fellow at The Sheffield University.
